I finally got the front and back brakes good to go and got it growling like a beast so I decided to take it out for a spin. It was able to shift into first and take off and it rode a little weird, It felt like it was having a hard time shifting into second and then it wouldnt shift into any gear but second until I powered it off. It then shifted into first and neutral with no problem. I then tried to start out again and it felt like it shifted into first but when I released the clutch nothing happened, it didn't even stall out. I am not even sure where to start on this.
Something like this is hard to diagnose. First, though, make sure the clutch cable is adjusted properly to where it is disengaging properly. It may be possible that if the cable is old, it could have stretched and not be pulling right. So check that. It is the easiest place to start.
After that, you will want to download the manual and we can go from there.
The ride IS the adventure. The destination is just to get gas!
I just replaced the clutch cable but in the process I stripped the 10mm nut that holds the clutch bolt adjuster....things are going very slowly for me and I am anxious to ride already. I will try to continue this work next Saturday.
I tried to look up replacements clutch bolt adjusters and they are hard to find, I am a bit nervous of stripping that also. I figured I can alwasy run to a hardware store and replace the 10mm nut but the bolt... that may be hard to find. I have downloaded a few manuals for my bike, they should help me along the way.
